An Art Filled Day in the Hudson Valley

Dia Beacon and Magazzino Italian Art Center

September 27, 2024

Join ALIX as we spend the day upstate immersing ourselves in the worlds of Modern and Contemporary art! We will begin in Beacon, NY at the Dia Foundation which specializes in art from the 1960s to the present. Now on view is an exhibition by filmmaker Steve McQueen titled “Bass”, which investigates how light, color, and sound affect perception of space, time, and ourselves . The permanent exhibitions include large-scale installations and works by Richard Serra, Andy Warhol, Louis Bourgeois and many more.

Next we will travel to Magazzino Italian Art in Cold Springs, NY. The museum specializes in Arte Povera, a radical art movement that emerged in Italy during the 1960s and 1970s. Arte Povera artists used everyday materials to challenge and redefine traditional art practices.

an art-Filled Day in Bucks County

Leaving NYC at 8:30AM - Stay Tuned for New Date

We have planned a wonderful day in Bucks County that will introduce us to the ways in which the area has served as inspiration for artisans and artists over the past 100 years.

Our first stop will be to the historic Mercer Moravian Pottery and Tiles Works which created hand-made “artistic” tiles expressing the ideals of the American Arts and Crafts Movement.

We will then visit Durham Press, a well known publisher of limited edition prints, multiples, and unique works of artists from around the world including Jacob Hashimoto, Mickalene Thomas and Polly Apfelbaum.

It will be a wonderful full day to celebrate creative spirits.
