This November, we are planning another local art excursion. We will visit the retrospective of Roy Lichtenstein at the Whitney Museum of American Art, accompanied by a scholar-led private tour, as well as the exhibition featuring the work of Minnie Evans. In keeping with our tradition, we will conclude the evening with dinner at RH Rooftop.
Roy Lichtenstein: Like New
Roy Lichtenstein: Like New offers a bold reconsideration of Lichtenstein for the present. Bringing together roughly 130 works made from the early 1940s through the 1990s, the exhibition traces how his early interest in perception and visual recognition shaped a career-long investigation into duplication, simulation, and image culture. Across painting, drawing, collage, prints, sculpture, and film, Lichtenstein treated images as unstable forms that could be borrowed, translated, reframed, and transformed.
The Lost World: The Art of Minnie Evans
Inspired by vivid dreams and visions, Minnie Evans created radiant drawings, paintings, and collages that blend Afro-Caribbean heritage, mythology, religion, nature, and popular culture. Her intricate, kaleidoscopic works feature angels, mythical creatures, and mysterious patterns, reflecting her vision of a spiritual “lost world.”
Recognized nationally by the 1960s, Evans was the subject of a one-person exhibition at the Whitney in 1975. This retrospective celebrates her visionary blending of the everyday and the divine.
Our visit to the museum will be followed by dinner at RH Rooftop.
