AKAA – ALSO KNOWN AS AFRICA is in its second year and is the first art fair devoted to contemporary art and design from Africa to be organized in Paris,

The organizers said It is time for Paris to take the floor again on the art scene from Africa. Historically, At the start of the 20th Century, many artists such as Derain, Picasso, Matisse and Modigliani became enthralled by African art. These artists saw in this art a formal perfection countered by abstraction, asymmetry by balance, primitivism with sophistication of design. Visual art was changed forever and Cubism was born, influenced by the African sculptor's simplified use of planes and forms At the AKAA fair, French  artists from the African continent, together with those from the diaspora draw a new cartography based on their environment.
