LET’S DANCE WITH DAVID BOWIE AT THE BROOKLYN MUSEUM
ALIX is planning a super fun evening and invites you to attend a tour of the amazing David Bowie Is exhibition at the Brooklyn Museum. We just saw the show and were totally entranced with Bowie’s genius yet again! The exhibition pulses with his music, his art, his storyboards for performances, videos, and of course those amazing costumes!
All drawn from his archive of over 400 objects, the exhibition traces Bowie’s creative process from his teenage years in England, using his birth name of Davie Jones, through his last twenty years, when he resided in New York City. The archive is presented within an immersive, multimedia installation that includes continuous audio along with projected animation and video. There are also many tableaux with embedded video’s that make you feel that you in that particular moment and time.
He was a true genius and you will learn how other creative talents - musical, visual and literary - influenced his work. During his earlier years these led him to consider many other creative paths such as taking a time-out in Berlin just to paint!
Our tour will begin with a 15 minute introduction by the Director of Exhibitions, Matthew Yokobosky. You will tour the exhibition at your own pace and route wearing headphones that pick up the recording tied to the clip you are viewing. You will feel again that “you are there!” Everyone moves to the beat or sings along with Bowie! It’s impossible not to! After the tour we are planning a 3-course dinner at the museum’s lovely restaurant, The Norm. It will be a fun way to end the evening! “So Let’s Dance!”
