LONDON ARTS STUDIES: The Story of Minimalism

Contrary to popular belief, not all 1960’s American art was Pop. Minimalist artists revolutionised sculpture and painting by changing the audience’s relationship to it – and by doing so laid the groundwork for so much contemporary art. Minimalist theory values reduced geometry, industrial materials, repeated forms and a direct relationship between the viewer and the object. Its beauty is unexpected and its ideas transformative. Join us as we demystify this often misunderstood movement.  Artists we will look at include Donald Judd, Dan Flavin and Carl Andre.
