in conversation with Pico Iyer

“On the air and in print, Ms. Tippett avoids easy answers, embracing complexity and inviting people of every background to join her conversation about faith, ethics, and moral wisdom.” – President Barack Obama

Krista Tippett is an award-winning broadcaster, author, and a National Humanities Medalist. She is the creator and host of On Being, a podcast that provides intelligent public conversation about the religious, spiritual, and moral aspects of human life. In 2014, President Obama awarded Tippett the National Humanities Medal at the White House for “thoughtfully delving into the mysteries of human existence.” Her forthcoming book, Letters to a Young Citizen, is a response to the questions Tippett has been asked by audiences in today’s rapidly changing world. The book will speak to the young citizen in each of us—to everyone struggling to discern the contribution we might make to this moment.

Pico Iyer is a travel writer, essayist, and novelist, whose many books include Autumn Light, Video Night in Kathmandu, The Lady and the Monk, The Man Within My Head, and The Art of Stillness, a beautiful and thoughtful investigation of the benefits of quiet contemplation and travel to “nowhere.”
