Philbrook Museum, located in Tulsa, Oklahoma, presents exhibitions of contemporary and historic art in the stunning setting of an Italianate villa and expansive gardens. Opened in 1939 in the former residence of oilman Waite Phillips, the museum reflects both Tulsa’s rich history and its vibrant present in a city filled with arts and culture.

The fascinating exhibition Views of Greenwood presents photographs of the historically Black neighborhood of Greenwood, just outside downtown Tulsa. This thriving district, once known as “Black Wall Street,” was all but destroyed in the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre. After rebuilding in the following years, it was disrupted again by urban renewal in the 1960s and 1970s. Views of Greenwood presents nearly fifty photographs by three Oklahoma artists who, over the last fifty years, have explored change, loss, and resilience within the neighborhood.

Join exhibition curator Susan Green to explore these moving, beautiful images. Green is the Marcia Manhart Endowed Associate Curator of the Contemporary Art and Design at Philbrook, and she worked with three artists to select photographs for this exhibition.
