Having just celebrated its 40th anniversary, Raoul’s is one of the few remaining SoHo originals and has maintained its status as one of the neighborhood’s hippest restaurants. Situated in a long-established residential area of SoHo characterized by cast-iron-fronted buildings, the space possesses the same neon lights, paintings and cozy booths that have endured since its former smoke-filled days. However, when you walk in the door you are immediately struck by the restaurant’s vitality and infectious energy. What’s more, the food is always delicious. One bite of the artichokes and frisée salad or sautéed scallops or steak au poivre and you will understand why this SoHo mainstay continues to draw its dedicated regulars as well as European visitors who seek a piece of Paris in New York. Rather than receiving the most gracious greeting, be prepared to join the restaurant’s energy, have a drink at the bar and make new friends as you await a seat to dine.
