The mighty Charles McPherson is a legendary bebop saxophonist. After moving to New York City in 1959, he played with Charles Mingus from 1960–1972 and has since performed around the world with his own groups and those of Lionel Hampton, Barry Harris, Art Farmer, James Moody, the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis, and many more.
