gail monaghan: A JEREMIAH TOWER TRIBUTE MENU
June 8th 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm
Gail Monaghan is a renowned cookbook author, teacher and food historian. She hosts exquisite cooking classes in the relaxation of her beautiful Manhattan loft with intimate groups of fellow gourmands. Her upcoming class, “Jeremiah Tower Tribute Menu,” presents a three-course meal using favorite techniques and recipes by Jeremiah Tower, legendary celebrity chef and a close friend of Gail. In 2002, Gail worked with Jeremiah to publish “Jeremiah Tower Cooks: 250 Recipes from an American Master.”
Jeremiah is famous for his charisma, ingenious cooking techniques and as co-owner of Berkeley’s Chez Panisse in the 1970s and transformative San Francisco restaurant, Stars. His commitment to detail, simple cooking and fresh ingredients continues to be recognized, most recently with Anthony Bourdain’s documentary on Jeremiah, “The Last Magnificent.”
During this special evening, ALIX members have the option to roll up your sleeves for hands-on cooking, or simply sip on wine as you watch Gail demonstrate her magic. Whichever your preference, the class promises to be memorable and will allow you to brush up on your culinary skills and try Jeremiah Tower’s approach to simple cooking that you will find yourself returning to for years to come. Expect a night filled with learning and discovery, while transcending the mundane frustrations of cooking—she makes it look as easy as pie!
